Artists’ Statement:
Our dances blend spectacular aerial athletic feats with purposeful, intelligible dancing. We create contemporary dance on a vertical stage, applying the technical elements of aerial movement to the dancer’s process of inquiry to make highly physical dance on and above the floor that is both relevant and transcendent. We seek to advance art of aerial movement beyond the realm of feats and tricks to a place that demands the fullest awareness and most exquisite use of the body in performance. Applying aerial skills and acrobatics to a dancer’s intricate body awareness makes choreography that is exciting and uplifting on a somatic level, and enriches both the circus tricks and the expressive movement. Audiences are inspired philosophically or academically while being astonished by the incredible, gravity-defying capabilities of a human in space.

ticktock is:
A diverse collective of theatre makers headed by aerialist and dancer Elizabeth Rose. ticktock was founded in 2009 by Ms. Rose with collaborators Jill Schaffner and Bridget Gunning.
